Bespoke Jacket Drafting - Specialist Course

This course is designed for aspiring individuals looking to acquire a specialty in bespoke jacket drafting, and a desire to set foot in the tailoring industry. The course is designed to developed strong understanding of fundamental basics before moving to highly specialised advance bespoke jacket drafting. Having a strong fundamental allows for a smooth and efficient ascension to a higher level, allowing for opportunities in the tailoring industry ideal for both aspiring business owners and craft practitioners.

Min/Max Participants: 4 - 6 Individuals.

Course Fees: THB 70,000.

12 Sessions: 2hours 30mins per session. (Twice each week in the evenings)

Course and tools Requirement: Jacket Drafting Basic. Tailor L-ruler, tailor curve ruler, straight ruler (preferably 18-20 inches). Stationery (Pencil, Eraser). Notebook for notes-taking. Further information on tools will be provided prior to commencement of course.

Course Materials:

  1. Drafting Paper will be provided.

  2. Cutting Fabric will be provided.

Course Overview:

  1. TCR measurement system, development and refining of jacket back panel.

  2. Development and refining of jacket front panel.

  3. Development and refining of jacket side panel.

  4. Development of top-sleeve & under-sleeve.

  5. Course assessment for full basic jacket development. Post-course pattern study and refine.

  6. Revisit TCR measurement system. Understanding of torso anatomy & posture. Development of back bespoke jacket panel VS back anatomy study.

  7. Development of front bespoke jacket panel VS front anatomy study. Development of side bespoke jacket panel VS side anatomy study.

  8. Understanding drapes, relationship between panels. Course assessment for full bespoke jacket development based on complex anatomy. Post-course pattern study and refine.

  9. Live cutting & marking on fabric. Learning to prepare a full-basted prototype build.

  10. Live fitting, identifying issues and recommended solutions.

    Pattern-grading & modification.

  11. Building for prototype part II.

  12. Live fitting part II, and post-fitting session review.

    Revisit course content, Q&A and ‘how to move forward’.

Course Objectives:

  • At the end of the course, you will be able to develop bespoke jacket pattern for various male body type.

  • Receive a certificate for full course completion endorsed by The Cutting Room and a cut-length fabric for your next jacket project.

  • 10 sessions of post-course consultation support will be provided.
