There is a quiet elegance about Gabriel, the kind of presence that doesn’t need to announce itself loudly, but is felt in the way he speaks, the way he reflects, and even the way he dresses. For him, life has always been an interplay between people and purpose, technology and tradition, logic and beauty.

His professional journey began at Goldman Sachs, where he entered as an intern before officially joining the firm in 2020. On paper, it was a career in software engineering. In reality, it was also a lesson in humanity. He describes his time in Goldman as a truly diverse experience. “I learned a lot as a software engineer, but more importantly, I learned lessons about life, and people. You can’t take people for granted. People set the dynamics, the culture. They either make or break an experience.”

During our catch-up coffee session, it is apparent that ‘the importance of people’ is a theme that Gabriel returns to often. According to him, whether through friendships built at work or the subtle bond of being part of a community, he believes the connection through various interactions is what gives meaning to the everyday. “Even in the simplest of spaces, camaraderie changes everything,” as he eloquently says.

Now, as Gabriel embarks on a master’s degree in artificial intelligence, he carries that same philosophy into the future. His academic pursuit is not just about advancing technology but about rethinking its relationship with humanity. “There’s this narrative that AI will replace humans. But I want to explore how AI and technology can help reconnect us with each other instead. I would love to explore how it can be built to empower people, not diminish them.”

With his involvement and conversations in the area of technology and AI, what few may know, is Gabriel’s second passion in classic menswear. At first glance, the world of code and the world of tailoring couldn’t be further apart. But for Gabriel, they share something profound: discipline, structure, and the pursuit of beauty.

“One thing I find beautiful, and yes, I know ‘beautiful’ is usually thought of as a feminine word; is classic style,” he says with a smile. “It’s timeless, and elegant. When I dress in a classic impression, it transforms the way I feel about myself. It’s not even about how others see me. It’s about how I see myself.”

The ritual of dressing well acts as an anchor. On good days, it enhances his composure; on difficult days, it steadies him. “Even when things go badly, I look in the mirror and know that at least I still look good. It gives me control in the midst of chaos. On the worst days, I still make the effort to show up, dress well, and give my best.”

This devotion to elegance is more than personal preference. It’s also an influence from heritage. His paternal grandfather, whom he remembers fondly through old photographs, was always impeccably dressed. According to Gabriel, his grandfather carried himself with quiet pride. Always showing up in pressed shirts, neatly tailored trousers, polished shoes. “I never had the chance to know him as an adult, but his sense of dress connects me to him. It’s a legacy. A reminder that I’m not alone, even when life gets messy.”

At the center of it all is the ability to care, for people, for heritage, for oneself. Dressing well remains a daily act of respect, not just for the world but for himself. Taking the effort, even in small ways to make life better is a proof that one values himself. As the he confidently declares,

“It’s about never letting myself go.”

This philosophy is a belief that Gabriel carries firmly in his heart, extending to everything he does. And it can be seen as a clear reflection to who he is, and hopefully encourage others to put their best foot forward too.”

For him, style is not just fabric and form, and technology is not just numbers and code. Both are mediums of expression, legacies of the past, and blueprints for the future. His journey is not one of extremes but of balance; between heritage and progress, discipline and creativity, self and society.

And in that balance lies a quiet but powerful statement: that elegance in humanity is never outdated.

Over the years, Gabriel has a habit of bringing his friends to The Cutting Room atelier, surprising them with the generous gesture of gifting a bespoke garment. Witnessing this act of kindness on many occasions has made me proud to call myself his tailor, and more importantly, his friend. His values remind me of the timeless importance of kindness and generosity, qualities the world needs just as much today as it will tomorrow. - Alexander K
